Emerged from the INTERREG IVA project South Baltic Professionals, we are a network of different public institutions in the field of labour market, business development and education. Our offices are located throughout the whole South Baltic Region. By joining forces we aim to create a common labour market and enhance cross-border job placements within the South Baltic Region. This shall raise the attractiveness as a working and living place of this unique area in the north of Europe.
Our lead partner Business Rostock initiated a similar platform for the region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 2008. Since significant results could be achieved, the idea came up to adapt the format for other regions. Together with further business development institutions, job centres, labour exchange offices, chambers of commerce and educational institutions from several countries of the South Baltic Region, the South Baltic Professionals Portal was created.
By means of various pilot actions, the aim of the South Baltic Professionals project is to face brain drain and strengthen the economic competitiveness of the South Baltic Region. Hence the project will make a major contribution to one of EU’s priority in developing the South Baltic Region.
Our vision is a prosperous and interconnected region in the north of Europe with a strong economy, innovative ideas and smart people who are the backbone of such a success. A facilitated cross-border labour mobility will make sure that motivated and well-educated individuals can work in regions where their skills are best needed. Such cross-border job placements will lead to an increased productivity in regions with untapped potential. Further, the exchange of people with different backgrounds and knowledge takes the chance to boost innovation and discover new problem-solving strategies within the whole South Baltic Region. For this reason we have developed this SB Professionals Portal. By facilitating job seekers to find more easily a job in another area of the South Baltic Region, it will make a major contribution to form a common labour market. Job seekers receive a good overview of job offers in other countries of the South Baltic Region (whether it be permanent, temporary jobs or internship/trainee positions). In addition it is a useful platform to receive insights about practical, legal and administrative issues which future cross-border labourers will face.
All these items will help to remove barriers which remain existed between countries; it will strengthen the interconnection between individuals and institutions of the region and last but not least enhance the economic competiveness of the South Baltic Region.
