In Kaliningrad, the economically active population amounted to around 520’800 (current situation in June/August 2013). Among those were about 27’500 people unemployed. Hence, the unemployment rate amounts to about 5.3% in Kaliningrad.
Although this situation is average compared to other regions in the North-West of Russia, Kaliningrad lacks behind the leader St. Petersburg where the unemployment rate is only 1.6%.
